Policy & Legislative Analyst
Job Description
- Research political topics
- Collect and analyze information or data
- Use qualitative and quantitative sources to develop and test theories
- Evaluate how policies affect the public, whether individuals, businesses or government agencies
- Monitor events, policy decisions and trends and other issues with implications for the political and policy landscape
- Forecast political, economic, and social trends
- Write reports, publish findings and give presentations
- Follow and examine legislation initiatives
- Provide detailed reports on how legislations affect the public
- Communicate findings through reports, memorandums, social media and presentations
- Stay abreast of developments and changes in government and budget processes.
Political Affairs Analyst
- Produce written assessments of the domestic politics and international relations of foreign governments and entities
- Examine the goals, motivations, culture, values, society and ideologies of political actors , their resources and capabilities
- Study the development of political systems, research various political subjects and collect and analyze data
- Predict political, social and economic trends, evaluate cultures, values and political ideologies and present unbiased reports
- Use statistical analysis to interpret research findings
- Develop political theories based on research and historical documents
- Present research results by writing reports, giving presentations and publishing
Qualification and Requirements
- A graduate of Political Science, continuing third or fourth year student studying Political Science from a recognized university
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly self-motivated and ambitious in achieving goals
- Knowledge in Microsoft suite and SPSS preferably
- Good analytical and research skills
- Must be up to date with current Africa and World Politics
- Work effectively with or without supervision
- Willingness to learn
